Australian businesses are being warned to tighten their cyber security systems, after leading IT solutions provider CMTG revealed it actively defends against more than 1,400 threats every day.
CMTG Technical Manager Nick Hughes said it is paramount for organisations and individuals to be aware of cyber security to ensure their online identity and corporate data is protected.
“In today’s cyber-focused world where threats are becoming increasingly more sophisticated, businesses must make cyber security a priority,” Nick said.
“The greatest threat to businesses is spear-phishing, where threat actors target individual staff to obtain remote access or deliver malicious material to run ransomware content on their systems.
“Our team is constantly defending our clients against more than a thousand attacks like these each day, supported by a range of software products that are dedicated to defending businesses.”
Nick said there has been collective concern by IT providers around Australia about the extensive number of businesses that are not mindful of the serious threat posed by cyber attacks.
“Organisations must be vigilant about the tools they have in place to improve their security posture, because it is not a matter of if an attack will happen but when,” Nick explained.
“Businesses who are not willing to invest are at very high risk of being compromised.”
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month which, according to Nick, serves as a good reminder for companies to investigate their cyber security protocols and cyber awareness of the broader team.
“The best line of defence is education of your workforce, as well as investing in the latest cyber security products to keep your data and privacy safe and ensure your business remains a stronghold,” he said.
“Cyber Security Awareness Month is an ideal opportunity to assess and enhance your staff training, ensuring your team knows how to recognise potential threats.
“At CMTG, we offer comprehensive Cyber Security Awareness Training, along with expert guidance on advanced security products and proactive monitoring solutions, backed and supported by our strong partnership with global cybersecurity leader Fortinet.
