For Senior Sales Associate Ryan Gulizia, joining CMTG wasn’t just a career move, it was personal.
Having known CMTG Directors Carl and Mia Filpo since his teenage years – when Carl coached him in basketball Ryan saw the opportunity to join a business built on trust, ambition and meaningful relationships.
With a background in construction, including a Diploma in Building, Certificate IV in Estimating, and trade qualifications, Ryan began his career in the family tiling business before making a bold transition into the tech sector.
“IT was the only subject I truly enjoyed in school,” he said.
“It’s where I put all my energy, and it stuck with me.”
Now nearly four years into his role at CMTG, Ryan is responsible for advising clients on the right solutions for their business and delivering tailored hardware and software quotes.
“I make sure our clients get the best outcomes by collaborating with our vendor partners and tapping into the expertise of the wider CMTG team,” he said.
“What I enjoy most about my role is providing strategic advice and resolving issues efficiently – it’s about adding value and building trust.”
Ryan was drawn to CMTG by the opportunity for clear career progression in a supportive working environment.
“CMTG has allowed me to carve out my own path in an exciting industry, with a team that backs each other every step of the way,” he said.
But for Ryan, exceptional tech support goes beyond delivering the right solutions – it’s about people.
“I believe the foundation of a successful tech business lies in strong relationships,” he said.
“It’s not just about the technology, it’s about rapport – creating a friendly, supportive dynamic with clients.”
Ryan credits CMTG’s standout performance in enterprise data solutions to its personalised, client-first approach backed by cutting-edge technology.
“The CMTG team are true problem-solvers,” he said.
“Whether it’s developing an IT solution or answering a simple invoice query, we aim to provide peace of mind.”
Ryan sees the tech landscape as more exciting than ever, particularly with the rise of AI.
He is especially inspired by AI’s potential across diverse industries – from improving healthcare, supporting environmental solutions and transforming how companies operate.
“AI is already helping businesses work smarter and simplifying everyday tasks,” he said.
“But it’s not just about automation – it’s about enhancing decision-making, solving problems and helping people do more.”
To those aspiring to break into the tech industry, Ryan emphasised the importance of interpersonal skills alongside technical expertise.
“Success in this space takes more than just IT knowledge,” he said.
“You need drive, the ability to multitask and strong communication skills – especially in a fast-paced role where attention to detail is critical.”
Outside of work, Ryan trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, fuels his passion for combat sports, and enjoys exploring new restaurants and going to the cinema.
A proud Carlton supporter and devoted techno enthusiast, he brings the same focus and intensity to his downtime as he does to his professional life.
